Screen Tearing Simulator
Watch how the ratio between your frame rate and your monitor's refresh rate decides whether the screen tears, where the tear sits, and how V-Sync, G-Sync and FreeSync (VRR) remove it. Drag the sliders to match your own setup.

How to read it
The stripes are a moving image being drawn onto the panel one line at a time, top to bottom (the faint white line is the scanout). A tear is the red seam where the top of the screen is showing a newer frame than the bottom.
- Frames divide evenly into Hz (e.g. 120 fps on 240 Hz): the tear freezes in one place and is easy to miss.
- Mismatched (e.g. 165 fps on 240 Hz): the tear rolls up the screen — the obvious, distracting kind.
- VRR on (G-Sync / FreeSync): the monitor refreshes exactly when a frame is ready, so there's no tear at all — as long as you stay inside the VRR range (cap a few fps below your refresh rate).
